General Motors India has sold 8,440 units in the month of November 2011 against 8376 units sold during the corresponding period last year. The November 2011 sales were driven by the encouraging response received by Chevrolet Beat Diesel, India’s most fuel efficient car. Chevrolet Beat has been one of the top performers for GM India this month registering record sales of 4605 units. Commenting on the performance, P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the encouraging response to Chevrolet Beat. Other carlines like Cruze and Tavera have also generated the volumes on the expected lines. The market, however, continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments. These factors are putting lot of pressure on the automobile market.” Chevrolet celebrated its centennial as a global automotive brand earlier this year in November. It is now one of the fastest growing automotive nameplates in India and provides consumers with fuel-efficient, safe and reliable vehicles that deliver high quality, expressive design, spirited performance and value. Continuing its journey, Chevrolet plans to launch several new products and services for the global audience, relevant to the respective markets and customer preferences.
